As the health of animals, humans and the environment is a global challenge that transcends national borders, we want to support the international networking of One Health scientists.
The travel grants are intended to facilitate the exchange of scientific techniques and methods, to enhance knowledge transfer and to strengthen international relationships. The focus is on international networking and interdisciplinary exchange in line with the One Health concept.
This year, up to two doctoral fellowships and one postdoctoral fellowship can be awarded for a four-month stay at a German research institution. The grant covers up to 1,500 € per month for a maximum of four months for PhD students and 2,350 € per month for a maximum of four months for PostDocs. Travel costs (outward/return) will be covered in addition. The stay should be completed by the end of 2025.
Scholars are required to submit a short report at the end of their stay.
Eligibility and application process:
- Applicants must be working at a recognised academic institution outside Germany.
- The research focus must be in the field of One Health.
- The applicant must have a German One Health partner institution that supports the
- exchange and provides laboratory and/or other necessary workplace capacities.
Application documents:
- Up to date curriculum vitae (max. 1 page) indicating the research focus.
- Letter of support from the German partner institution (max. 1 page).
- A description of the planned research stay, including a time frame (max. 2 pages).
- Financial planning for the use of the grant with concrete proposals for flights, train, accommodation, etc. (via links or screenshots). All bookings should be made through or in cooperation with the HZI/HIOH. Travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with the German Federal Travel Expense Act.
Application
Selection criteria will be the interdisciplinary nature of the exchange, the relevance to One Health research, the added value for the candidate’s career development and the feasibility of the schedule.
