El grupo ‘Nutrición en la primera infancia y su repercusión a largo plazo’ tiene como línea prioritaria evaluar la influencia del crecimiento intrauterino, predisposición familiar, aspectos socioculturales, actividad física, lactancia y alimentación en las primeras etapas de la vida sobre la programación del crecimiento, composición corporal (incluyendo el compartimento óseo) y la aparición de obesidad a largo plazo. También se valora el patrón de crecimiento actual, la prevalencia de sobrepeso, la composición corporal y las pautas de alimentación de una muestra representativa en nuestro entorno desde la primera infancia; así como los factores ambientales prenatales, postnatales y socioculturales que puedan influenciarlos. En la actividad del grupo se incluyen cohortes de niños sanos con base en estudios epidemiológicos a gran escala y cohortes de pacientes con alguna patología concreta. El grupo también evalúa ensayos clínicos con determinados alimentos o componentes de alimentos que pueden modular la expresión de determinadas patologías a corto y largo plazo.
